Summary:
In this session, participants will learn how to prepare for taxes, what the tax preparer needs from them, what to look for in a preparer, and how to advocate to get their needs met. In order to receive a certificate of completion for this webinar participants must register using the link above, register with their name as they want it to appear on the certificate, and must be present for a minimum of 80% (120 minutes) of the webinar. 

Objectives- By the end of this session, participants will be able to: 

  • Understand what records to keep for your tax preparer
  • Differentiate between the different types of tax preparers 
  • Advocate for your personal and business tax needs

Workshop

Interpreting for Social Justice training

We invite you to the CCPU Training Fund’s “Interpreting for Social Justice” workshop to meet and learn with other interpreters and multilingual workers.  

Date & Time: Nov 30th – Dec 3rd, 2023 
Location: San Diego, California
Language: Open to all languages, special consideration will be given to speakers of Somali, Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, Russian, Armenian, and Vietnamese.

To be considered for this training, APPLY HERE. Applications are open until October 27, 2023.

During this workshop we will:

  • Center in language, Power, & Social Justice
  • Gain knowledge and understanding of language justice best practices as interpreters, the role of the interpreter, and interpreter ethics
  • Learn and practice skills of consecutive and simultaneous interpreting
  • Get familiar with using simultaneous interpretation equipment
  • Be in community, share stories and histories, have fun, learn collectively

This training also:

  • Centers you as multilingual workers and community members
  • Offers the possibility of paid contracting work with the CCPU Training Fund and our partners as an interpreter
  • Supports the work of the CCPU Training Fund and other partners

The CCPU Training Fund will cover all travel costs and provide stipends to the participants.
