Peer Mentorship
At the CCPU Training Fund, we recognize that family child care educators hold the most valuable knowledge when it comes to the work we do. It is through the sharing of such knowledge, practices, and experiences that we believe our community will thrive. That is why we are excited to launch our 2024 “Let’s Grow Together” Peer Mentorship Program where we aim to enable family child care providers to connect deeply with and support their peers, develop their educational and business capacities, assert leadership over policy and practice, and transform the family child care sector.
If invited to become a Mentor, you will serve as a part-time employee of the CCPU Training Fund (your status on a W-2 tax form) and will lead fellow childcare educators in key areas connected to their professional and business development needs and growth. You will join a vibrant mentorship network composed of small cohorts that are provider-led and staff supported, engaging in learning, connecting, sharing, and power-building together across California.
Thank you for your interest and investing your time in exploring this opportunity with us. We invite you to complete the following application which requires a stable wifi connection and should take no longer than about 20 minutes of your time. Answers to these questions will help us learn more about you and support our decision-making as we develop this inaugural cohort. In the coming weeks, we’ll be inviting selected finalists to create a video via Whatsapp to walk us through their workspace and share any additional information. We’ll then be making final decisions and will contact you directly if you have been selected. Due to this being an initial pilot, we have a limited number of spots available. We look forward to expansion and deepening of this work in the future, and if you are not selected in this round, we encourage you to apply for future cohorts. Additionally, we invite you to explore our other program offerings, especially if you have professional and business development experience – we look forward to learning from and alongside you!

“Part of learning and being part of this is networking together, because it can be very isolating in our position and profession. Even in our first cohort meeting, people were emotional, because they thought “Oh, I’ve only been experiencing this one thing by myself. But it turns out you are, too, and you are, too.” Having that support system to say, “Hey, we’re in it together. This is what the best practices are that could help you. Maybe you can try something new, and then build from that.” I think that's very powerful.”

Recognizing the crucial role of family childcare providers as essential educators, we actively invest in families most affected by poverty and systemic racism in California's underserved communities. By channeling our efforts into this workforce and elevating our collective quality of life, we aim to secure unhindered access to superior and comprehensive early childhood education for all children, particularly those in Black, Indigenous, Latine, and AAPI communities.
