Empowering Progress: The Technology Benefits Program for Family Child Care Providers

The Technology Benefits Program equips eligible family child care providers with essential tools to enhance their professional capabilities. This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide, empowering providers to integrate technology seamlessly into their child care practices for improved communication, educational activities, administrative tasks, and professional development. Alongside hardware provision, the program offers training sessions covering software utilization, internet safety, educational applications, and troubleshooting techniques.

A Closer Look at the Technology Benefit

    • This program is open to all licensed and licensed-exempt family child care

    • Providers who are a part of a child care subsidy program

    • Must have a subsidized child in their care within the past twelve months

    • Must be willing to offer care to subsidized children

  • If you receive equipment from the Technology Benefit Program, it is important to understand the associated tax implications. Please review the following information carefully:

CCPU Training Fund, a program of SEIU Education and Support Fund, is required to issue a 1099 tax form to any individual who receives equipment valued at $600 or more. Since the computer workstation and insurance have a combined value of over $600, you will receive a 1099 form. The IRS classifies this equipment as "ordinary non-employment income," similar to receiving a check for the same amount and is therefore reportable income.

In order to fulfill our legal obligations to the U.S. government, we will require you to fill out a W-9 prior to receiving any tech benefit. After your application has been approved, you will be sent a fillable W-9 through DocuSign to keep your information safe. You will not receive any equipment until we receive the signed W-9 back from you.

  • The CCPU Training Fund is excited to deliver computer workstations as part of the Technology Benefits Program. Your computer workstation will consist of a laptop, mouse, mouse pad, and headset. We’ll also include a printed instruction guide with your package.

Please keep in mind that we're still working on expanding our language options for the computer workstations, so while we'll do our best to accommodate your preferred language, some features may not be available in all languages yet. In the event that we are unable to accommodate your language preference for your workstation, the language setting will default to English.

Choosing a language won't impact your ability to use other languages on your computer. You can always switch between languages later on if needed. CCPU Training Fund staff will be available to help you once you receive your workstation.

If you do not see your language of choice, please send us an email at tech.benefit@seiuesf.org. We will need: your name, your email and telephone number, your language of choice, and some good times to reach you.

  • Through this program, qualifying providers will receive a computer workstation, including a laptop, mouse, and headset, to help you provide better care for the children in your care.

I love the course and materials they have given us as well as all the resources. I wish I had all this information when I first started.
