Overview
The CCPU Training Fund is thrilled to partner with trusted educational institutions and professional development opportunities tailored for California’s Family Child Care Providers. Each partnership is designed to help you grow your knowledge, advance your career, and provide the best possible care to the children you serve. Our Tuition Assistance program provides up to $5,000 per calendar year for eligible providers—so be sure to review the guidelines and take full advantage of these incredible resources.
General Eligibility
To access your Tuition Assistance benefit and participate in one of our Partner Programs you must ensure you meet the eligibility criteria:
Licensed or licensed-exempt
Cared for at least one subsidized child at any point within the past 12 months
Willing to offer care to subsidized children
Education sought must be professional development related to and in service of work as a Family Child Care provider; the content covered must be applicable to early childhood education or a business development.
The school you want to attend must be an accredited California-based higher education institution.

Apply for Assistance
The process for receiving your benefit will vary based on your chosen program. Whether you’re interested in Reimbursement or Sponsorship, be sure to follow the guidelines regarding receiving your benefit below.

Receive Your Benefit
Your benefit will be awarded in the form of funds being sent directly to your school or distributed directly to you via bill.com or physical check.
UCLA Extension offers in-person and online courses in a wide range of subjects—from Accounting & Finance to Child Development. It’s a public continuing education institution based in Los Angeles, known for its flexible course formats and reputable instructors.

UCLA Extension
Program Overview:

Eligible Family Child Care Providers must be licensed or licensed-exempt AND cared for at least one subsidized child within the last 12 months.

Visit UCLA Extension to explore eligible courses in Accounting & Finance, Business, Child Development, Communications, Education, Legal Studies, Mathematics, and Writing.

Submit our Tuition Assistance Sponsorship Application for UCLA Extension to request funding.
A Tuition Assistance Coordinator will contact you directly with the next steps and guide you through course enrollment.

If you already have a UCLA Extension profile, you will need to associate that profile with our CCPU Training Fund group. Here are the instructions for associating your profile with our group.
Log in to the Student Portal (If you do not remember your password, please use the forgot password button on the log-in page to generate an email with a link to create a new password)
Once logged in, select My Profile from the left-side menu
Once in your profile, either click Group Affiliations from the left-side menu or scroll down on the profile until you see Group Associations
Enter the Group # for SEIU (G003641) and click Add Group. Here is documentation to help.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Save button.
Get Started with UCLA Extension:
EDvance provides a 3-year, online Early Childhood Education Bachelor’s Degree program specifically for Bay Area residents. If you’re looking to earn a degree that directly supports your work in early childhood education, EDvance may be the perfect fit.

Please Note: while the Spring EDvance cohort is full, we welcome you to check back in advance of the fall semester or learn about accessing funds through Sponsorship or Reimbursement below.
After you are enrolled and have an EDvance student ID number, please fill out the EDvance CCPU Training Fund Scholarship Application. Our Tuition Assistance team will review your application and reach out if there are any additional documents needed.
If you are not in a fully sponsored cohort, you may still access $5,000 toward EDvance through your Tuition Assistance Benefit by submitting a Higher Education Fund Reimbursement/Sponsorship Application.
Reimbursement: Pay up front, then apply for reimbursement.
Sponsorship: Request sponsorship so the Training Fund can pay directly.
Get Started with EDvance College:
ed2go partners with many accredited colleges across California—such as Mt. San Jacinto College, Merced College, and more—to offer diverse online courses. It’s an excellent option if you’re seeking flexible, self-paced learning opportunities in various subject areas.

Select any course you’re interested in and click “Request Info” to share your contact details. An ed2go representative will guide you through enrollment.

After the enrollment process, we welcome you to select your payment option and submit a Higher Education Fund Reimbursement/Sponsorship Application.

Get Started with ed2go:
Pacific Oaks College, based in Pasadena, California, offers a wide variety of programs in education and human development. Through our partnership, you and your immediate family members can receive 25% off tuition fees.

Combination of in-person and online courses

Once you explore the offerings, apply to Pacific Oaks College and enroll in your desired courses.
When enrolling, be sure to include the CCPU Training Fund as your affiliation for 25% off of your tuition fees.

Get Started with Pacific Oaks College:
MiraCosta College will offer 12 units in Child Development during 2025. These foundational courses, offered exclusively in Spanish, will help lay the groundwork for advanced Early Childhood Education studies.

Ideal for providers looking to build or enhance early childhood expertise

Program Overview:

The MiraCosta cohort is an annual program starting each January with the ability to learn more and enroll between August and December each year.
Please Note: Eligible Family Child Care Providers must be licensed or licensed-exempt AND cared for at least one subsidized child within the last 12 months.
The MiraCosta program will only be offered exclusively in Spanish and will provide 12 units total in Child Development during 2025.
The 12 units in Child Development form the foundation upon which further Early Childhood Education coursework is built.
